My grammar pal June Casagrande (author Grammar Snobs Are Great Big Meanies!) and the new grammar girl on the scene agree on the best grammar/style reference for you to have on your desk. More on what that might be later.

Anyway, in an interview, June asked Grammar Girl (AKA Mignon Fogarty) what book she would use for reference if she could only have one. She, without hesitation, named Garner's. June agrees. I do, too. I guess...but I also like the AP Style Guide because I started using it when I made it my business to write for newspapers. Therefore, I find it easier to use. I have to admit, though, that for the writers of books, Garner's is more on target. So there's a third book you can put on your summer reading/writing development list. Or was it four? I have to admit I'm better at editing than I am at arithmetic.
